８月18日に、学校設定科目「海外研修」を履修している９名の1年生がベトナム現地研修に向けて出発しました。ホーチミン市への訪問は今回で３回目です。JETROホーチミン事務所、VIETSTAR MEIDEN社、Binon Cacao Park、Duc Tri高校を訪問し、施設を見せていただいたり、講話を聴いたり、交流をしたりしました。
On August 18, nine first-year students embarked on Mishima-Kita High School’s annual study trip to Ho Chi Minh City as part of the "Overseas Studies" elective course. After many years of taking students to Hanoi for fieldwork, Ho Chi Minh City has now been established as the new designated destination.
JETROホーチミン出張所訪問 Visit to JETRO Ho Chi Minh office
日本貿易振興機構(JETRO)ホーチミン事務所では、在ベトナムの日本の企業の事業展開の歴史や、双方の国で企業がビジネスを始める際にJETROが行っている多様なサポートの様子や、経済活動を通じた発展途上国への貢献のあり方など、所員の安部様よりわかりやすいレクチャーを受けました。地域ごとに異なる事情など、大変具体的なお話も含まれ、生徒からの質問にも丁寧に回答していただきました。
During their visit to the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the students were welcomed by Mr Abe Masato, who shared insights into JETRO's role in promoting trade and investment between Japan and Vietnam. The students learned that JETRO focuses on fostering business ties by providing support to Japanese companies looking to enter the Vietnamese market and helping Vietnamese companies expand into Japan. This visit gave them a better understanding of Japanese investments in Vietnam, which varied from region to region, and the overall economic development of Vietnam over the years.
Vietstar Meiden社訪問 Visit to Vietstar Meiden Corporation
Vietstar Meiden社では、送電や配電のための設備の組み立て作業の様子を見学させていただき、商品やサービスが末端の消費者に届くまでに多くの過程があることがわかりました。原田吾一副社長様ならびに現地従業員の皆様からは、ゴミ問題・資源管理問題、長期療養の環境にある子供たちの教育機会、災害時の避難所の環境改善をテーマとした生徒の発表に対し、年度末の発表に向け、今後の研究推進につながる貴重な意見交換の機会をいただききました。
Vietstar's ongoing support has been invaluable to students' projects for many years. The visit began with a short corporate presentation and a tour of the factory floor, where students saw power transmission and distribution equipment being assembled firsthand. Following the tour, they presented their ongoing research projects on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to Mr. Harada Goichi, the Deputy General Director, and his local staff. The presentations covered a range of topics, including sustainable waste and resource management, educational opportunities for children in long-term care, and finding ways to improve stays in evacuation centers. The students received valuable feedback and advice, gaining new local perspectives that will help them further develop their research before their final presentation in March 2026.
文化体験 Cultural experience: Water puppet show
ホーチミン市内の専用劇場で、伝統的な水上人形劇を鑑賞しました。ベトナムの神話や稲作社会慣習に基づく短い演目が次々繰り広げられ、龍、亀、農民などの人形が、水上だけでなく水中でも激しい動きを見せたり、伝統的な楽器の演奏に乗せてセットを駆け上るような演出も見事でした。ベトナム語によるセリフの細かい内容はわからないものの、楽しみながらベトナムの伝統文化を学ぶ機会となりました。
To end the day, the students attended a traditional Vietnamese water puppet show. Performed at a local theater, the show’s stories were based on myths and traditional rice farming life. The students were captivated by the puppets' vibrant and humorous movements, which were set to distinctive music from traditional instruments. Even without understanding the Vietnamese dialogue, the lively and engaging performance was a highlight for everyone.
ビノンカカオパーク訪問 Visit to Binon Cacao Park
環境に配慮したカカオ農園で、カカオ生産だけでなくチョコレート製品も手掛ける、ビノンカカオパークを訪問しました。昨年に続き2度目の訪問です。CEOの遠藤亜矢子様の講話では、産業としての可能性に着目し、農園内の敷地を整備するところから手掛けて育てたビジネスへの思いや、雇用を生み地域社会支援の役割も担っているというお話を伺いました。農園内を歩いて回るツアーでは、原材料の生産からチョコレート製品の販売まで手掛けるBinon Cacao Parkにおける、カカオ生産の現場の様子を直に確かめることができました。
For the second time, Binon Cacao Park was chosen as a fieldwork destination. The site is an excellent case study in entrepreneurship and sustainable business led by a young Japanese professional. The students met with Ms. Endo Ayako, the CEO, who provided valuable insights into running a business with a commitment to shared prosperity with the local community. Ms. Endo emphasized the importance of using sustainable methods to protect natural resources while producing high-quality cacao. The students were also given a farm tour. This practical session enhanced their understanding of cacao cultivation, the first step of the farm-to-chocolate mission of Binon Cacao Park.
Duc Tri 中等高等学校訪問 School visit
昨年に続き、Duc Tri 中等高等学校を訪問し生徒や教員の皆さんからは大変温かい歓待を受けました。３つのグループに分かれ、本校生徒が取り組んでいる課題探究について意見交換をすることができました。また、学校行事のSummer Dance Festivalに飛び入り参加し、特別な体験をさせていただきました。お互いの文化について英語で説明しあったり、同年代の若者の視点で語られる現地の実態に触れることを通じ、今後の課題探究の方向性や意義について、考え直す機会となりました。
The day's events included a memorable visit to Duc Tri Secondary and High School. This marks our second exchange with Duc Tri, laying the groundwork for a long-term partnership. The students received a very warm welcome from the staff and students. The visit was a wonderful blend of personal interaction and academic discussion. The students had the chance to present their research projects, and the conversations that followed were both insightful and engaging. The students also had a chance to take part in the school’s Summer Dance Festival, making this exchange particularly special and memorable. This enriching exchange broadened the students' horizons, strengthening their appreciation for global diversity and the value of cross-cultural connections.
市内フィールドワーク Walking tour
ホーチミン市内を歩いて回り、歴史的・文化的な観光地を訪れました。残念ながら聖母マリア教会は改修中でしたが、人民委員会庁舎や統一会堂など、歴史の舞台となった史跡は圧倒的でした。建国80周年の節目となる年に訪問できたことで、市内の熱気も伝わりました。
The study trip concluded with a city tour of Ho Chi Minh City, offering a final opportunity for students to immerse themselves in its vibrant culture. They explored a variety of historically and culturally significant sites, gaining a deeper appreciation for the city's rich heritage and the landmarks that have shaped its identity. This final excursion provided a memorable experience, leaving a lasting impression on the students and enriching their overall understanding of Vietnam.

- 海外の人と積極的に関わるには、自分からたくさん英語で話しかけることが本当に大事だと感じました。初めの頃は勇気が出ず、相手からの言葉待ちだったのですが、だんだん自分から話すことで、意外と楽しくコミュニケーションできるということを知ることが出来ました。
I've come to realize that to actively engage with people from other countries, it's really important to initiate conversations in English a lot. In the beginning, I lacked the courage and would wait for others to speak to me, but as I started to speak up myself, I learned that communicating can be surprisingly fun.
- 学校交流や買い物をするときなど英語を使う場面が多くあり、初めは固くなってしまったけど、上手く言おうとするのではなく、相手に伝えようとする気持ちが大事なんだと気づき、以前よりも抵抗が無くなったし、自分の英語レベルも少し上がったと思った。また、ベトナムは中国っぽいアジア的な雰囲気とフランスっぽい洋風の雰囲気が混ざりあった日本には無い景観で、刺激的だった。バイクがとにかく多くて、バスの中から見てるのも少しヒヤッとしたけど、ベトナム人は小さい頃からバイクに乗っているため抵抗はなく、逆に車の方が怖いと聞いて驚いた。
There were many situations where I had to use English, like during school exchanges and shopping. At first, I felt a bit stiff, but I realized it's not about trying to speak perfectly, but about the desire to convey your message to the other person. After this realization, I felt less resistant, and I think my English skills improved a bit. Also, Vietnam has a unique landscape that's a mix of a Chinese-like Asian vibe and a French-like Western atmosphere, which was very stimulating. There were so many motorbikes, and watching them from the bus was a bit frightening. However, I learned that Vietnamese people have been riding motorbikes since they were children, so they're not intimidated by them. I was surprised to hear that they're more scared of cars.
- 言葉が通じなくても、一生懸命身振り手振りやわかる単語で話す工夫をすれば、コミュニケーションをとれるということを学ぶことができました。また、英語を使う機会が増えたら英語にも慣れて話せるようになると学んだので、英語を使う機会があったら積極的に使っていきたいと思いました。
I learned that even if you can't speak the language, you can still communicate by making an effort to use gestures, hand signals, and the words you do know. I also learned that the more opportunities you have to use English, the more comfortable and fluent you become. Because of this, I want to actively seek out opportunities to use English.
- ベトナムの文化を自分の目で確認できただけでなく、自分たちが成長できる研修内容が多くあったため、人として成長できた部分が大きかった。海外を経験することで大きな成長が見つかると思うため、他の海外研修や英語を使うプログラムなどに積極的に参加しようと考えるきっかけになった。
This trip not only allowed me to see Vietnamese culture with my own eyes, but it also offered many opportunities for personal growth. I believe that significant growth can be found by experiencing different cultures, and this trip motivated me to actively participate in future study abroad programs and English-language programs.
- まず、ベトナムに着いた時に思ったことが「思ったよりも発展しているな」ということでした。空港もとても綺麗だったし、空港の外には車やタクシーが多く並んでいたり夜のまちが明るかったりして驚きました。ベトナムでは、ドリアンやドラゴンフルーツが主流で多くの店に並んでいるのが日本ではあまり見ない光景で面白かったです。また、ドリアンの臭いによりホテルへの持ち込みが禁止されているというのも日本との違いを感じとても面白かったです。
When I first arrived in Vietnam, my first thought was, "It's more developed than I expected." I was surprised by how clean the airport was, the number of cars and taxis outside, and how bright the city was at night. It was also interesting that durian and dragon fruit were so common and available in many stores, which is not a sight you see often in Japan. It was also the first time I saw a sign saying durian was prohibited in hotels because of its smell, and I found it interesting to see the difference from Japan.
