290 first-year students took part in an induction course to learn how to address various local water issues (LWI), which is their research theme for this year. The course began with an ice-breaker session facilitated by 10 second-year students, who participated in an overseas study trip to Vietnam last summer. The course also included a talk about the importance of water by Mr. Junji Hashimoto, a water journalist. Furthermore, staffs of Yachiyo Engineering Co., Ltd., Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. and Numazu Office of River and National Highway (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) ran workshops on their respective expertise areas on LWI.
